The barracks area of
Hillersleben South, could accommodate an estimated 500 persons. Facilities included a mess
building, stables and a riding hall. The riding hall is later converted in a theater by
the Russians. Also a veterinary hospital and cart sheds were present. This must have been in
the buildings 104 and 105. The Russians used it for other purposes.
Just behind (north of)
the barracks area was the motor pool and garage area.
Irregular painting of the
barracks was the only attempt at camouflage in the area.
